BTF #182 - Dr Jaime Tartar: Stress & Sleep
We all go through stressful periods ~ how do we protect our sleep?
We all know sleep is important, but we all also know the feeling of a restless night from being stressed out… which just leads to poor performance the next day and more stress! What can we do about it? Let’s ask the expert!
Dr Jaime Tartar is the current chair of the Psychology and Neuroscience program at Nova Southeastern University. She earned a Ph.D. in the Behavioral Neuroscience program at the University of Florida and her postdoctoral Training at Harvard Medical School where she studied neurological consequences of sleep disruption.
In this episode of Better Than Fine we ask Dr Tartar:
What is stress, really?
Why does stress mess with sleep so much?
What are the common lifestyle factors that affect the quality of our sleep?
What can we do to get better sleep (even when we’re stressed out)?
