Mindful Consumption (Article & Workbook)
Mindful Consumption is when we examine our choices and choose how we'll care for ourselves, our bodies, our minds, and even one another.
What is mindful consumption?
We're all consumers by the fact that we exist.
Not only in the "consumer economy" sense - but we consume air and turn it into carbon dioxide. Food is consumed and converted into energy. Time with loved ones is consumed & converted to joy.
Yet, not all consumption is aligned and healthful, and often our consumption is programmed by our family of origin, culture, marketing, friends and peers, and many other factors out of our awareness.
Mindful consumption is practice of applying mindfulness to our choice of what we let into our bodies, minds, spirits, and environment.
What mindful consumption isn't?
Mindful consumption is not the constant control of every choice in your life.
It's not the a goal to obtain or a state to maintain.
There is no "end objective" to mindful consumption. It is an ongoing practice of gentle awareness, self-compassion, and being more intentional with your personal choices.
There is no "right way" to practice mindful consumption. Simply your way.
